Stiff neck and shoulders, arthritis, and lung issues have made sustaining any kind of exercise a painful chore. I've tried everything. Treadmills, stair climbers, stationary bikes, speed walking, jogging, etc., which are all tedious, boring and painful for me. Hiking is, literally, a pain in the neck. Biking is OK for short distances, at least since I found the right bike, but can often cause headaches from neck and shoulder tension.
Hooping is an entirely different story.....
Since it's low impact aerobics, it's easy on my knees and other joints. It's also easier on my lungs as I can go slowly when I need to and concentrate on using my core, mainly my abs, to keep the hoop going. Hooping is also very zen. When I crank up the tunes and start hooping, I am thinking of nothing, I'm just twirling to the beat.| < Prev | Next > |
